Montezuma Falls
Montezuma Falls is among the tallest waterfalls in Tasmania, and the walk in follows an old mining tramway through rainforest rather than climbing anything steep.

The track follows the route of a tramway built to serve the mines that once worked this country, which is why a walk to a waterfall runs so flat and so straight for so much of its length. The rainforest has taken the corridor back almost completely.
It is a there-and-back walk rather than a loop, and the falls at the end are worth the return trip. After heavy rain the volume of water changes the character of the whole thing.
From Zeehan it is around 35 minutes to the trailhead, which makes it a comfortable half day if you leave after breakfast.

- The track is a return walk along an old tramway, so it is long rather than steep.
- It gets muddy. This is the West Coast, and boots beat runners.
- There are no facilities at the falls, so take what you need with you.
- Allow most of a morning or afternoon once you include the drive.
