40 minutes from the hotelThings to do in Strahan
Strahan is the harbour village everyone comes to the West Coast for, and it is 40 minutes from our front door. That distance is the whole point of this page: you can do all of it, then sleep somewhere quieter and considerably cheaper.
Departs Strahan, 40 minutes awayThe Gordon River Cruise
The Gordon River cruise is the single biggest reason people come to this coast, and it is the reason an early breakfast matters more here than almost anywhere else.
Zeehan is the turnoffThe Tarkine
The Tarkine is one of the largest tracts of temperate rainforest left on earth, and Zeehan is the turnoff for it. That is not marketing, it is just the road layout.

The Wilderness Railway is a rebuilt 19th century line that climbs out of Queenstown through rainforest, on gradients steep enough that it needs a rack and pinion to hold the track.
