Surf breaking below the headland at Granville Harbour, West Coast Tasmania

30 minutes from the hotel

Granville Harbour

Granville Harbour is 30 minutes from Zeehan, on a piece of coast that takes the weather straight off the Southern Ocean.

It is a small, scattered settlement rather than a town, and the interest is entirely in the coastline. Water breaks hard over the rocks here even on quiet days.

White bellied sea eagles work this stretch, and if you have any interest in birds it is worth the drive on its own.

The wind farm on the headland is a fairly recent addition to the view, and depending on your feelings about turbines it either completes the picture or ruins it.

Stay the night at the Heemskirk

Thirty minutes each way, so it is an afternoon rather than a trip.
