Zeehan parkrun
If you are chasing the alphabet, you already know why you are reading this. Z is one of the hardest letters to find, and Zeehan Golf Club parkrun is 9am every Saturday morning.

It is a free, timed 5km, run entirely by volunteers, the same as every parkrun anywhere. It started in February 2024 as the first parkrun on Tasmania's west coast, and parkrun's own announcement of it was headed "Z is for Zeehan Golf Club parkrun", which tells you they understood the appeal immediately.
The course is a mixture of gravel paths and trail, and it runs through part of the Spray Tunnel track, so you are running through the mining history rather than past it. Expect mud and puddles after rain, because this is the West Coast and that is simply what the ground does.
Walkers are welcome, children under 11 need an adult with them, and you can bring one dog on a short handheld lead. Afterwards people head for coffee in town.
Breakfast opens at 5am, every day
A 9am start is comfortable when breakfast has been open for 4 hours. Most places running an alphabet chaser out the door cannot feed them first.
Practical
Doing it from the Heemskirk
- The run starts at Zeehan Golf Club, Fowler Street, at 9am every Saturday.
- Breakfast at the hotel opens at 5am, so there is no rush and no skipped meal.
- Bring your barcode. No barcode, no time, the same as everywhere.
- Stay Friday night and you are not driving across the state at dawn to make a 9am start.
Stay the night at the Heemskirk
Stay the Friday night, eat properly, and get your Z without a 4am drive. Call us if you are bringing a group.
